Embracing Australia’s vibrant and dynamic way of life, Dessein Furniture offers local designers the opportunity to promote their products on home soil. Working with some of Australia’s most talented designers has allowed us to create a dynamic fusion of fresh designs and creative inspiration.

A focus on affordability and accessibility allows us to provide our customers with authentic alternatives to the mid-range furniture currently available in Australia. This is strengthened by our responsive, personable, fast and honest service – something which lies at the heart of our ethos.

Dessein Furniture makes considered and conscientious choices for all our materials, striving for sustainability. Sourcing resources

which are readily available in the geographic region allows us to reward our customers with cost savings while also reducing waste and minimising environmental impacts. Here at Dessein, we design furniture that will be with you for many years.

Dessein Furniture’s vision is clear – to deliver a range of furniture and objects for living which is distinctive in its authenticity, versatile in its application, accessible in its affordability and enduring in style.

‘What I see in Australian design is a fresh perspective on the world, a vibrancy and youth that expresses our nation’s multicultural diversity.’

Michele’s vision in establishing Dessein was to create Australian designed furniture which is affordable, original and sustainable. Dessein was launched in 2012 by Michele with a vision to facilitate new opportunities for Australian designers.

But the dream began much earlier thanks to a design enriched childhood with hours spent in her father’s architecture studio. A mixed, rich cultural heritage also played its part as Michele crossed the globe from Malaysia to Australia, London and finally Melbourne where Dessein Furniture took form in earnest.

Michele understands the value between everyday life and design. Since her award winning student days she has consistently worked towards crafting better living through design. At the helm of Dessein, she enjoys the opportunity to push herself each day and be the master of her own destiny.

Made for Life

Inspired by the prominent Australian Artist Howard Arkley, the Arkley sofa combines soft rolling curves with bold geometric lines. Arkley’s intricate frame is crafted with a combination of sustainably managed Australian hardwood with precision cut plywood. Upholstered over the frame is a high resilience foam designed for support and topped with a slow release memory foam for superior comfort.

Collection Arte

Drawing inspiration from Clement Meadmore’s iconic stone like forms, Arte has a distinctly sculptured profile. Arte is defined by its geometric top shape and intricate leg detail, made by laminating timber and then turning the round profile to create an abstract sunburst effect. Each and every leg is unique in both form and colour.

Noon Coffee Table : Bringing lightness and balance to a collection of rich, cohesive materials. Graphic in nature, the Noon Tables offer striking material combinations confined within an outer ring. The top is contained within half-milled legs creating a tension and lightness between the surfaces.

The Noon Tables are available in two sizes, 500mm DIA x 450mm high and 1000mm DIA x 350mm high. The top surfaces are available in a variety of finishes including timber veneer, marble, laminate and mirror framed all with a 3mm MS solid edge. The table frame is available in black textured or white powder-coat with alternate colours available upon request. The table series is also available in the Noon Tri-Cut finish of marble, black mirror and walnut. The Tri-Cut configuration is referenced throughout the Noon Collection, showcasing different finishes seamlessly in unity. Made in Melbourne.

Noon Lounge Residential Lounge : Noon is a modular collection of upholstered products which softly arc at the edges. Noon’s arm allows the cushion to flow over the arc, creating an extra level of comfort and softness to the product. There is a tension created between the stitching detail on the inner and outer surface which run in parallel, framing and outlining the product.

The composition of materials balanced with an understated aesthetic creates a harmony within the elements of the Noon Collection. The collection is designed specifically for residential spaces with a commercial cross over and features the modular lounges, armchair, two coffee tables, an accompanying mirror and a rug in three colour ways. Made in Melbourne.

Glaze Pendant Light : Glaze is a stoneware pendant light. The understated form of the shade highlights the beauty of its glazed surface. Each shade is hand crafted giving the product a shared yet unique appearance.

The product is available in a range of standard and metallic glazes with custom glazing available on request. Glaze comes with a black ceiling canopy to suit the hanging and a standard 2m of black cloth cable. The product comes standard with a dimmable 9W LED globe. Made in Melbourne.

Hemera Desk Lamp : Just like the brutalist architecture from 60 years ago that it references, the Hemera desk lamp is powerful in its simplicity of form.

Designed for the New Volumes™ collection, the two solid circular volumes intersect with no overtly visible light source, creating a striking desktop monolith and a lighting device of refined functionality.

About Zuster

Zuster is Dutch for sister. In design terms, Zuster symbolises a legacy of quality Australian design and craftsmanship that embraces three generations of Dutch family heritage. Today, sisters Wilhelmina McCarroll and Fleur Sibbel draw on Zuster’s hand-crafting expertise to forge a new signature approach with the Jewel Collection.

High end fashion meets furniture in this collection of individually crafted pieces. Hand detailing draws out the luxurious and precious beauty of carved timber and blown glass. Highlighted by exquisite embellishments of precious stone and specialty marble, with hints of copper and brass.

Exceptional craftsmanship combined with Zuster’s passion for beautiful design and intuitive function infuses the collection with provenance and heirloom appeal. Each bespoke piece is a statement in its own right, enriching your home spaces and becoming part of your family history.

At the heart of the Zuster Collection is the hand. Pieces are individually crafted by Zuster’s expert cabinet makers, and shaped by the creative vision of Zuster Design Director Wilhelmina McCarroll.

Zuster’s experienced design and sales staff work with you to select your perfect piece and personalise this to your style and needs. Your bespoke order is drawn up in CAD for your approval. It is then passed to Zuster’s highly skilled craftspeople who form each piece by hand, from start to finish.

Provenance is bestowed through a lifetime of making and a passion for the finer details. Only the highest quality timber is used, and a durable long-lasting finish applied. Grain is matched down to the millimetre and timber cut to flow seamlessly. Each piece emerges perfectly balanced and flawlessly aligned.

Bespoke statements are made through your choice of size, finish, base, handles, and drawers or doors. A range of eight finishes in American oak with optional stone top allows you to match your piece to your style and space. Doors and drawers are embellished with your choice of hand-blown glass, timber, stone, crystal and brass handle options.
